Hobart Hurricanes won 1st semi final

Hobart Hurricanes which was one of the four semi finalists in ongoing season of Big Bash League competition. However, they reached final once earlier in the competition and now, in the 7th season of BBL, they had chance to to move to the final for the 2nd time. But opponent was so hard to defeat. But, luck was on their side. Hobart Hurricanes won 1st semi final in Big Bash League competition where the match was against the most powerful as well as most successful team named Perth Scorchers. Scorchers was ahead of Hurricanes in all sectors but in the field, they messed up completely.

Hobart Hurricanes won 1st semi final

Perth Scorchers which was the defending champion of Big Bash League and also the most successful franchise team that have won highest number of BBL title already. They have finished the group stage match by standing on the top position on the point table. They played total ten group stage matches where managed highest eight victories there. On the other hand, their semifinal opponent Hobart Hurricanes played the same number of matches in the group but won five times so far. They were on the 4th position. So, according to the schedule the top rated team in BBL 2017/18 and the last qualified team faced against each other in the 1st semi final.

The match between Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes was taken placed in 1st February, 2018 and Optus Stadium, Perth was the host venue of the 1st semi final. For Hobart Hurricanes, Riley Meredith made his T20 debut through the match. Earlier, Perth Scorchers won the toss and decided to field as usual. So, came to bat first Hobart showed an extraordinary performance. They presented a huge target in front of the defending champion. The score was 210 runs which was almost not possible to chase. For Hurricanes most of the players did played well and Matthew Wade scored highest 71 runs in 45 balls. They just lost four wickets to make the score. However, facing such big score Perth Scorchers did not show such types of performance there but played  17.5 overs. They were getting all out by scoring total 139 runs. Tim Bresnan scored highest 43 runs for Scorchers. On the other hand, Dan Christian took four wickets highest for Hurricanes. At the end, Matthew Wade was announced as the player of the match for his brilliant innings. Gerard Abood and Sam Nogajski were the two field umpires of the match. So, Hobart Hurricanes won by 71 runs and jumped to the final of BBL 2017/18 after long time.
