Hobart Hurricanes beat Sixers by 5 runs

Hobart Hurricanes played their 5th match in ongoing season of Big Bash League yesterday and the match was against Sydney Sixers. On the other hand, Sydney Sixers played their 6th match in the season. In the match, Hobart Hurricanes beat Sixers by 5 runs at Bellerive Oval, Hobart.

Sydney Sixers started the new season of Big Bash very bad and passing worst time in the season. They are the current runner up in the competition but in the season, they did not able to win any match so far. But faced all all six times. It was the first head to head battle between Sixers and Hurricanes in the ongoing season and they have still one match in hand. However, Sydney Sixers is currently standing on 7th position on the point table where total participants in the season of BBL are eight. On the other side, Hobart Hurricanes is in 5th position where they played total five matches and managed three victories so far.

THe match which was between Hurricanes and Sixers, was the 21st match in the season of BBL and also it was the first match of round six. The match was taken place in 8th January, 2018 at Bellerive Oval, Hobart where Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and decided to bat first. In 20 overs, the team Hurricanes scored 170 runs by losing six wickets. D’Arcy Short scored highest 42 runs for Hobart. Later, Sixers almost chased the score but due to bad luck their innings finished with 165 runs. They lost just four wickets. Sam Billings scored highest 61 runs for the team Sixers and remained not out. So, Hobart Hurricanes won by 5 runs.

Short and Doolan started the innings for Hurricanes. In four runs Doolan was gone. In 2nd wicket partnership between Short and Wade, they added more than 75 runs to the scoreboard where Wade was gone with 41 runs and Short scored 42 runs. Rest four players added few runs each to the board and based on it, the innings of Hobart Hurricanes finished with 170 runs. They lost six wickets in the meantime. Abbott took highest three wickets for Sixers.

In return, in nine runs Jason Roy was gone who came to open the innings for Sixers. In 3 runs second wicket Maddinson was gone. Later, Hughes and Silk made a partnership that added few runs when Hughes scored 33 runs. Silk and Billings made another partnership where Silk was gone with 45 runs and Billings remained not out with 61 runs. They played well but at the end, they did not win.
