Shoaib Akhtar is never shy of being amid controversies. The former Pakistan speed-star has hardly managed to hold fast to the other, conventional side of the coin. And, this time was no different!

Pakistan cricket has been enduring their worst patch ever since the Sri Lanka team bus was attacked by a group of terrorists during their tour in 2009. After six years of embargo, minnows Zimbabwe did agree upon to visit Pakistan for a sojourn, but it seems like the hullabaloo will continue to hover around the nation.

Just when things were on course to settle down, Akhtar sparked further speculations by revealing that most of the players in the Pakistan cricket team during his stint were ‘match-fixers’ and that no one would play for their country, but for themselves.

“Pakistan team is not to be taken seriously,” the 39-year-old, who currently serves as an expert in India, was quoted as per saying by Pakistan Today. “All the captains lacked any cricket knowledge. The results of the matches were decided in the dressing room, and playing in actual did not contribute to the results.

“I cannot tell you how many fixers there were in the team. In Pakistan Cricket team, everyone played for himself and no played for the team as a whole.”
