Although his captaincy skills have barely come under the scanner, MS Dhoni’s batting has been a subject of discussion in the last couple of years or so.

The World Cup-winning skipper, however, has looked as good as ever with the bat in his hand at this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL).

On Sunday, Dhoni rolled back the years as he went on a six-hitting spree that almost helped Chennai Super Kings pull off an improbable win over Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Needing 26 runs off the final over, the 37-year-old demonstrated his power-hitting skills by smashing fast bowler Umesh Yadav for 24 off the first five balls.

However, Dhoni and company couldn’t get beyond the line after the last ball witnessed a run-out.

Despite the result, fans took to social media to laud Dhoni for his unbeaten 48-ball 84, with many calling for the veteran wicket-keeper to be made India’s Prime Minister.

“Not sure if he stands for elections, but if he does, my vote goes to @msdhoni. MS Dhoni for PM. One fine day,” one person wrote.

Another one corroborated, saying: “How I wish Dhoni was standing for PM in the ongoing elections!! Imagine how he would efficiently manage India’s resources to make our nation even greater!! Dhoni as PM would be the only way to do true justice to this LEGENDARY LEADER!!”

“Forget Modi and Rahul Gandhi, let’s make @msdhoni PM!”

MS, are you listening?
