Middlesex and Essex Eagles are the two franchise teams in Royal London One Day Cup 2018. Like every season of the tournament, this two teams have participated in the tournament from South Group. The whole tournament is divided by two groups which are North and South group. Each group contains nine teams. From each group, top three teams will qualify for the knockout round. So, every match seems similar important for every team here. Middlesex and Essex Eagles started the tournament in 17th May, 2018 and their first match was against each other. In the match, Essex Eagles won by 6 wickets.

The tournament Royal London One Day Cup started their journey long time ago. Earlier it was known by another name and also the competition format was different. In 2014, the name was changed to Royal London One Day Cup and overs per side was increased to 50. So, the competition has become limited over match.

Essex Eagles can be considered as one of the most successful team in the tournament. Earlier, they won several times of the titles of the tournament though after the name was changed to the current form, they yet to win any title of it.

The match between Middlesex and Essex Eagles executed in 17th May, 2018 at Brunton Memorial Ground. In the atch, Middlesex won the toss and decided to bat first. From the previous matches in the tournament, we have seen that toss winning team used to decide to bat first and most of the case first batting team wins the match. So, Middlesex took the right decision.

Stevie Eskinazi and Nick started the innings for Middlesex in the match. Openers added almost good scores. The partnership was broken in 79 runs when Stevie Eskinazi was gone with 28 runs. Nick scored 50 runs for the team. Most of their players scored a bit though there were not any big score. Eoin Morgan scored 45 runs, Hilton and James scored 29 runs each respectively. In 48.3 overs team Middlesex lost all wickets and scored 250 runs so far. Ravi Bopara and Neil took three wickets each for the team Essex.

Later, Essex came to chase the score. In 3 runs opening partnership was broken but in 2nd wicket partnership between Varun and Tom, they added 153 runs jointly. Varun scored 59 runs and Tom made a century. He scored 134 runs so far. In 42,4 overs team Essex reached the target by losing 4 wickets.
