However, the 5th Test of Ashes started in 4th January, 2018 and it is hosted at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. The two field umpires in the match from Sri Lanka and West Indies. Earlier the match, team England won the toss and decided to bat first. Their decision based on the ground nature. By batting first they hoped to make a good total in the first innings because day by day the ground turned to bowling favoured.

Earlier the match, it was rain which fact delayed the toss and so, English team could not bat the whole 90 overs in the first day. More that two hours were delayed due to rain. However, at the end of the first day, England finished the day by losing five wickets totally when Malan and Ali were in the crease. They could start a good opening in the second day but they could not. Within few times, their 6th wicket was gone at the beginning of the second day. Since then they could not make long bond but between Ali and Curran tried a bit and almost succeeded.

Basically openers of the team could not make any established score. In just 28 runs their opening partnership was broken. Openers scored 39 and 24 runs respectively. Vince came in 1st down but scored just 25 runs. Their performance still questionable because they are regarded as the most balanced team currently and best England team ever. It would perhaps at the away ground they faced the problem.

Just couple of players scored almost well where the captain of the team Root scored highest 83 runs and Malan scored 62 runs so far. Curran was placed in 3rd position who scored 39 runs and Broad scored 31 runs so far.

Team Australia is in bat for the first innings and finished the 2nd day by losing two wickets. They scored 193 runs in the meantime. Khawaja and Smith are in bat for Cricket Australia.
