England made draw against CAXI at Townsville

Team England is currently visiting Australia where they are scheduled to play five test matches and five ODI matches against the Aussie team. Five test matches are the part of Ashes 2017/18 which are going to start in next 23rd November, 2017. The Gabba which is located in Brisbane will host the first match of Ashes. Due to the reason, English team are travelling Australia current where they are scheduled to play three warm up matches as well. 2nd warm up match has recently finished where England made draw against CAXI at Townsville.

England made draw against CAXI at Townsville

CAXI which is Cricket Australia XI was the opponent of the England and the match was started in 15th November, 2017. Cricket Australia XI won the toss and opted to bat first at Townsville. CAXI scored 250 runs by losing all wickets in the first innings where England scored 515 runs in return. Came to bat in second innings, CAXI scored 364 runs by losing just four wickets. So, the match finished with draw. Earlier, England played the first warm up match against the same team where English team beat CAXI by 192 runs.

Cricket Australia XI came to bat by winning the toss. Openers made 66 runs partnership which hints to a big score. But after that players could not stand in front of the dominating balls of English bowlers. Finally Shorts tried to make protest and scored highest 51 runs for the team. Their first innings end up with 250 runs. Woakes took highest 6 wickets for the English team.

Cook and Stoneman made a fearsome start for England and their partnership added 172 runs to the scoreboard. By when Cook was gone with his 70 runs. Stoneman and Vince made another small partnership. After Vince, skipper Root came up and joined with Stoneman. Stoneman scored a great century of 111 runs so far. On the other hand, Root scored 83 runs. Another English batsman Malan scored another century. He scored 109 runs so far. Finally, they got all out by scoring 515 runs. The score was huge to beat them.

Short took four wickets and Fallins took three wickets for CAXI. And CAXI came to bat for 2nd innings. Openers added 80 runs but no one crossed fifty. But middle orders did their job well. Both Short and Sangha scored brilliant century each. Short remained not out with his 134 runs. In second innings, English bowlers could not get much dominance and so, the match finished with draw.
