The fifth Test of Ashes has finished earlier today which was started in 4th January, 2018. Though, team Australia already secured the Test series by winning first three matches but 5th Test was important for both teams. England lost by an innings and 123 runs at Sydney in the match. So, the Test series finished with 4 – 0. Though it was a competition of five matches where in 4th Test of Ashes which was finished with draw.

In 4th January, the fifth Test which was also the first match in the new year and both teams wanted to start the year with victory. And for England, they lost the series already but for mental satisfaction, they wanted to win the match. They also won the toss and decided to bat first.

In their first innings, team England scored 346 runs in first innings. They played complete first day but at the beginning of the 2nd day, their batting was collapsed and within short time, they lost all wickets. However, so came to bat for first innings Australia presented huge runs target in front of England and almost secured the match. They scored 649 runs and yet to lose all wickets. They had still three wickets in hand. By playing 193 overs, they made the score. So, one and a half day left for England to chase that in second innings. But England failed to do so and in 180 runs, they lost their all wickets. So, team Australia won by an innings and 123 runs against England.

England started the 2nd innings with Cook and Stoneman. But in just five runs, Stoneman was gone. Later in 15 runs they lost Cook. So, since then English team started to lose wickets within a regular gap. In 43 runs they lost 3rd wickets when Vince was gone with 18 runs. Captain Root just played a bit well and scored 58 runs for the team. Malan scored 5 runs and Bairstow scored 38 runs so far. Six players of England made it to the two figure runs where Curran scored 23 runs and Ali scored 13 runs so far. Rest players seemed just visited the ground for a while. They just played 88.1 overs in 2nd innings and in the meantime, they scored 180 runs.

Mason Crane was a English player and made his Test debut and also took his maiden Test wicket in the match. Pat Cummins was announced as the player of the match due to his very good bowling figure in both innings.
