Finally England could not save the ODI series also. They lost their 2nd ODI matches against India yesterday where the ODI series consists of three matches. They already lost first two matches and in that case, the series is already missed. Before the ODI series, the English national team lost the Test series in India where they played five matches test series but could not manage any victory but drawn one and lost four. However, they were so close to the victory in the second ODI which was staged in 19th January, 2017 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. The field favoured the batsmen and so India made a ton of runs by batting first. They scored 381 runs in ODI which almost impossible to chase. However, the field statistics also favoured India where they faced defeat in the field last time in 2003. But, English batsmen almost about to change the history but finally luck betrayed them. They faced defeat by just 15 runs and missed the season as well.

England fought well but could not save the series

Earlier in the 2nd ODI which was the day/night competition, England won the toss and chose to field. They also knew the previous statistics in that field and thought, if they could able to tie India within mere score, they could beat them. The English bowlers successfully took three wickets within 25 runs and thought about to tie them. But, they underestimated the batting line up of India. Yuvraj and Dhoni took the helm and both of them crossed the century lines where Yuvraj made his highest innings ever with 150 runs and Dhoni scored 134 runs. Basically two of them led India to a biggest score. So, at the end of the fifty overs, India scored 381 runs by losing six wickets so far. Woakes took highest four wickets and Plunkett took rest two.

The score was nearly impossible to chase but English team also possessed the most strongest batting line up in history of them ever. Though, they lost their first wicket so early but Roy and Root started to dominate Indian bowlers. Both of them made a half century where Roy scored 82 runs. Later, English skipper Morgan came up and led the team to near the victory. He made a century but could not save the game. They needed to victory to save the series but finally lost. They scored 366 runs by losing eight wickets so far. Their 3rd ODI match will start in next 22nd January, 2017 in Kolkata.
