England Batsman Jonathan Trott Announces Shocking Retirement from International Cricket
It just seemed that he is on a recuperation track, when he announced a shocking retirement. Yes, England batsman Jonathan Trott has decided to hang up his boots from international cricket.
Trott, who made his return to international circuit after an 18-month layoff due to stress-related issues at the West Indies tour recently, could manage to amass just 72 runs in 6 innings.
Self-analyzing his dreadful return, Trott feels that he is not up to the international level, which is why he took this decision. He, however, will continue to play for his county Warwickshire.
“This was a tough decision to make but I don’t feel my game is at the level you need to be at to play for England,” Trott was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
“I was honoured to be given the opportunity to come back and play international cricket again and I’m disappointed it didn’t work out,” he added.
Trott, 34, represented England in 52 Tests and 68 One-Day International matches throughout his career.
