Durham faced defeat against Yorkshire

Durham Jets or simply Durham is a franchise team in Royal London One Day Cup competition in 2018. They have participated in the ongoing season from north group where they have played their first match in the tournament already and the match was against Yorkshire Vikings. Yorkshire County Cricket Club is simply known as Yorkshire Vikings in limited over competition. However, in the inaugural match of both teams in the tournament, Durham faced defeat against Yorkshire.

The match between them was the 4th match in North group which was also the first match of both teams on the season of Royal London One Day Cup 2018.

The tournament Royal London One-day Cup was known as another name earlier in 2014 but in 2014 the name was changed to the current form. In the inaugural season of the tournament in 2014, Durham won the title of the tournament. So, they can be considered as one of the most potential and experienced team in the tournament.

The match between Durham and Yorkshire took place in 18th May, 2018 and the host venue was Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street.

In the match, Yorkshire Vikings won the toss and decided to bat first. Lyth and Kohler-Cadmore opened the innings for Vikings. Openers added 80 runs to the scoreboard. Lyth was gone with 30 runs but at the end of the crease Cadmore stood strong. He made another partnership with Pujara. They added near about 150 runs to the scoreboard when Cadmore was gone with 164 runs. He faced 151 balls and made fifteen 4’s and seven 6’s in his innings. Pujara also played well. He scored 82 runs so far. Based on the three players, team Yorkshire Vikings scored 328 runs by playing full 50 overs. In the meantime, Yorkshire lost four wickets only. Bowlers of Durham were expensive in that day. Potts took three wickets alone for Durham in the match.

Later, Durham came to chase the score. Openers Clark and Collingwood failed to make a good start. Seven players of the team Durham made their score to double figure but no one stood for long. Richardson scored highest 43 runs where Poynter scored 36 runs and Potts scored 30 runs for the team. They played 40 overs and lost all wickets by scoring 186 runs so far. Rashid took four wickets highest where Bresnan and Patterson took two wickets each for Yorkshire Vikings.
