Sri Lanka leveled the 7-match ODI series after getting the better of New Zealand by 6 wickets in the second rubber at Hamilton on Wednesday.

Earlier, the hosts won the toss and decided to bat first. However, a fine bowling performance from Sri Lanka saw them bundle out for 248 runs in 50 overs. Besides skipper Brendon McCullum (117), no other kiwi batsmen piled on desolation for their opponents.

In response, the visitors barely faced a burly antagonism, as opener Tillakaratne Dilshan (116) steered them to a comfortable 6 wicket victory with 14 balls to spare.

“It was a good surface. The ball came nicely onto the bat,” Dilshan was quoted as saying by CricBuzz.

Reflecting on his bowling figures of 7-0-27-0, Dilshan said: “I am also enjoying bowling. It is not easy to bowl here – it does not turn like it does back home. I was trying to put it in the right areas and make the batsmen play.”

Next up, the two teams will now lock horns in the third encounter on Saturday.
