Derbyshire won by 5 runs

Derbyshire and Leicestershire both are most important participants in Royal London One Day Cup 2018 and earlier both of them won the trophy of the tournament. They are now competing in the current season if Royal London Cup as the two of nine teams in North group. This two teams have played against each other for the first time in the season and in the match, Derbyshire won by 5 runs considering D/L method.

The match was affected by the rain and so, later, umpires applied D/L method. And declared Derbyshire as the winner team.

Derbyshire is in very good form in the tournament this season. They started the season with victory. Till now, they have played total four matches and managed three victories and so, they are holding the top position on the point table now. On the other hand, their opponent Leicestershire started the season with defeat. By playing three matches team Leicestershire managed one victory only and so, they are now a lower ranked team.

The match between Derbyshire and Leicestershire took place in 25th May, 2018 at County Ground, Derby. It seems that it was the home venue of Derbyshire. In the match, Leicestershire won the toss and decided to bowl first. Due to rain, the match was delayed and so, the overs per side were reduced to 33.

Ben Slater and captain Billy Godleman started the innings for derbyshire. In 38 runs opening partnership was broken. Ben was gone with 29 runs so far. He faced 18 balls and scored that runs. Just 10 runs later, 2nd wicket Luis was gone. He scored only 4 runs so far. In 92 runs of the team total four wickets were gone. Captain Billy scored 64 runs highest where Gary scored 49 runs and Daryn scored 30 runs so far. In 33 overs team Derbyshire lost nine wickets and scored 211 runs. Varun Aaron took highest four wickets and Neil took two wickets for Leicestershire.

Opening partnership of Leicestershire was almost good. They added 58 runs when opener Ned was gone with 32 runs so far. Another opener Paul scored 24 runs for the team. Colin scored 41 runs and Mark scored 13 runs so far. They tried hard and went too close. Their top scorer was Tom who scored 49 runs highest. In 33 overs team Leicestershire scored 206 runs so far by losing seven wickets. Matthew and Luis took three wickets each for the team Derbyshire in the match.
