Chris Gayle Hints at Retiring from Test Cricket

West Indies powerhouse Chris Gayle might soon give up on Test cricket to concentrate on the shorter formats of the game, and more so to lessen the crick from a chronic back-injury that has been a huge cause of concern for him since the last few months.

“I do [feel passionate about playing Test cricket], to be honest with you,” Gayle was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo ahead of the Caribbean side’s encounter against defending champions India at the ongoing World Cup 2015.

How about going under the knife? “People say surgery but they say once you have surgery on your back basically your career can be over,” he continued. “It would never be the same as well. Lot of thinking then.”

35-year-old Gaylestorm had made his debut in the longest format of the game against Zimbabwe in the year 2000. A veteran of 103 Tests, Gayle has amassed 7214 runs at a decent average of 42.18 including 15 hundreds and 32 half-centuries.
