Bangladesh won 1st ODI against Sri Lanka at Dambulla

Team Bangladesh is currently touring Sri Lanka to play a Test, a ODI and a T20I series against the Lions. They have already completed the Test series where the series finished with draw. The Tigers won the second as well as the last Test which was their hundredth long format match and wrote the moment to history. They dominated over the Lions in 2nd Test of all divisions. As a result, they achieved rewards. However, after finishing the long format match, Bangladesh also started the ODI series which consists of three matches. First match was staged in 25th March, 2017 at Dambulla where the Tigers got a large victory against Sri Lanka by 90 runs. Bangladesh scored 324 runs by batting first losing only five wickets where opener Tamim Iqbal scored his 8th century. Buy, in return, the Lions got packet by scoring just 234 runs in 45.1 overs. So, by winning the match, the Tigers is now leading the ODI series by 1 – 0. They have a chance to promote their ODI ranking to 6th position by replacing Sri Lanka if they would able to whitewash the Lions by 3 – 0. But, it could not so easy fact though the Tigers are now best in form.

However earlier in 25th March, 2017, the ODI was the day night competition where the Lions won the toss and let the Tigers to bat first. Bangladesh started very well with the partnership between Tamim and Soumya but Soumya was fallen when team score was 29. Later, Sabbir came up and this partnership added almost 90 runs to the scoreboard when Sabbir got a brilliant fifty with ten 4’s. After his departure, Mushfiq was in bad luck and gone with just 1 run. But, Shakib and Tamim once again made partnership of 144 runs when Shakib was out with his 72 runs. The Tigers lost total five wickets and all of them except Mushfiq scored double figure runs so far.

Like batting, the Tigers showed extraordinary performance in bowling and fielding as well in the match. Skipper Mashrafe stroke first when the Lions did not open their run account. Gunathilaka was trapped by Mashrafe with 0 run. They tried hard but their partnership could not last long where the Tigers bowlers were so economic. Cutter master took highest three wickets for Tigers. Finally, Sri Lanka lost all wickets in 234 runs.
