Bangladesh lost 1st Test against Proteas by 333 runs at Senwes Park

Bangladesh cricket team is currently visiting South Africa for a dual tournament with team Proteas which consists of Test, ODI and T20I matches. They have started their competition with long format matches. But before that, they also played two practice matches against Cricket South Africa Invitation XI. Their first official Test in this tour started in 28th September, 2017 and it was hosted in Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. In the opening Test, Bangladesh lost against Proteas by huge 333 runs so far. And team South Africa is now in the leading position by 1 – 0. They have just another Test match lef and there is no chance left for Bangladesh to win the Test series but highest they would draw them by winning the second and final test.

Earlier in 28th September, 2017 the Tigers won the toss and decided to field first but that was proved wrong decision because that was batting favoured ground. Two players of Proteas scored century in the match and losing just three wickets, they collected 496 runs by playing 146 overs. Elgar scored highest 199 runs and Amla scored 137 runs for the team. On the other hand, Bangladeshi bowlers were super flop in that day. Cutter master Mustafiz and Shafiul took one wicket each for Bangladesh.

To chase 496 runs in first innings, Bangladesh started to lose wickets in 16 runs when Imrul Kayes was out with his seven runs. Later, Liton Das with his 25 runs. Just Mominul and Mushfiq stood little while in front of Proteas bowlers along with Mahmudullah. Mominul scored highest 77 runs and Mahmudullah scored 66 runs for the Tigers. The Tigers lost their all wickets by scoring just 320 runs in 89.1 overs.

Maharaj took highest three wickets, Morkel and Rabada took two wickets each for the Proteas in the first innings. Later in second innings, they still had more than hundred runs lead but came to bat to increase the amount. In their second innings, no players could stand long in front of the Tigers but Bavuma scored 71 and du Plessis scored highest 81 runs so far. By losing six wickets, they scored 247 runs in second innings and declared the match. Mominul Haque took three wickets highest for Bangladesh.

But to chase such score, Bangladesh faced a shameful defeat. They lost their all wickets in just 90 runs and South Africa won by 333 runs so far. No players could stand in the crease where Proteas bowlers dominated the second innings mostly. Kayes scored highest 32 runs. Maharaj stroke again and took four important wickets where Rabada took three wickets so far.
