The Bangladesh contingent suffered an early scare as their skipper Mashrafe Mortaza reportedly met with a road accident in Mirpur just days ahead of their bilateral series against India at home.

According to a report by NDTV Sports, Mortaza was moving from his place to the Mirpur stadium in a cycle rickshaw to join the team for a practice session, when a gentle accident with a bus took place en route.

Consequently, Mortaza sustained minor injuries to both his hands, but is expected to recover before the India series that is slated to kick-start from June 10.

Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurasingha was quoted as saying the following in the report: “This is unfortunate. We are concerned about his palm. But we will give him maximum chance to recover in time for the ODI series.”

Bangladesh are scheduled to feature in a one-off Test match and 3 One-Day Internationals (ODI) against the neighboring giants.
