Afghanistan won 1st ODI by 154 runs

Afghanistan cricket team has currently arranged a home tournament against Zimbabwe where they arrange it in United Arab Emirates. Due to political contradiction, Afgan team can not arrange any tournament at their home venue and so, they used to organise it at UAE as their home ground. So, the tournament between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan consists of ODI and T20I competitions. They already finished the T20I series where Afghanistan won the series by 2 – 0 games. Later, they have come to play the ODI series which consists of five matches. In the first match, Afghanistan won 1st ODI by 154 runs against Zimbabwe.

The first ODI competition between them was taken place in 9th February, 2018 and the same venue has hosted the match. The venue is Sharjah Cricket Stadium which is located at Sharjah. Earlier the match, Afghanistan won the toss and let the team Zimbabwe to bowl first. Afghanistan is using the ground as home venue and so, they have known the ground nature very well. So, came to bat Afghan team successfully able to present a huge target in front of Zimbabwe which was almost impossible for the guest team to chase. The score was 333 runs. Afghanistan lost only five wickets to make the score. They also played full fifty overs at Sharjah. One of their player Rahmat Shah made a remarkable century who scored 114 runs. He faced 110 balls so far. For the team Zimbabwe, Graeme Cremer took three wickets in 10 overs so far.

Later, Zimbabwe came to chase the score but failed to make a handsome start there. Their scoring rate was good but could not make any long innings. They played total 34.4 overs and scored 179 runs when they finished their innings. Their top scorer Solomon Mire scored 34 runs in 25 balls. However, Rashid Khan who is the Afghan bowlers took four wickets highest and he was the most economy bowlers in the match. FInally Rahmat Shah received the man of the match awards due to his brilliant century. So, Afghanistan won by 154 runs which was the biggest ODI victory for Afghanistan against any team.

Afghanistan did able to make a good start with openers Mohammad Shahzad and Ihsanullah. Openers added 90 runs and based on their score, team made a handsome total. Shahzad scored 36 runs and Ihsanullah scored 54 runs so far. Later, Rahmat made a century where Nasir Jamal scored 31 runs and Najibullah Zadran remained not out with 81 runs. He faced only 51 balls and made five 4’s and five 6’s in his innings.
