Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe by 5 wickets

Zimbabwean cricket team is currently visiting United Arab Emirates where they are scheduled to play a tournament against Afghanistan. They are playing a T20I series and a ODI series at UAE and their tournament started with T20 cricket. In the first T20I match, Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe by 5 wickets. Afghanistan is in 8th position in ICC T20I ranking which is far better than Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe cricket team is in 12th position in T20I World ranking and so, at the venue of UAE, Afghanistan started the T20I series as favourite team.

Zimbabwe has recently finished their Bangladesh tour where they played a tri nation series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. In the tour, they managed one victory against Sri Lanka but lost rest matches. So, they did not qualify for the final of tri nation series. Now, they are visiting UAE for a new challenge.

However, the first match between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe which was a T20I day/ night competition was staged in 5th February, 2018. Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah was the host venue of the first T20I match. Earlier in 5th February, 2018 Afghanistan won the toss and let Zimbabwe to bat first at Sharjah. Number of players from both teams made their T20I debut through the match where Mujeeb Zadran from Afghanistan and Ryan Burl, Solomon Mire and Blessing Muzarabani from Zimbabwe team.

So, came to bat team Zimbabwe managed to present 120 runs by losing nine wickets in their 20 overs match. Solomon Mire was the highest scorer for Zimbabwe team who scored 34 runs in 21 balls. On the other hand, Rashid Khan took highest three wickets in exchange for 19 runs. He bowled four overs in the match totally.

Later, Afghanistan came to chase 120 runs so far. Basically the chasing score was too easy even for Afghanistan because they still possess some destructive batsmen in their squad which are best in T20 format. So, by losing five wickets team Afghanistan reached the destination. They took only 14.4 overs to make the chase. Mohammad Nabi scored 40 runs highest for Afghan team and remain unbeaten. Blessing Muzarabani took highest two wickets for team Zimbabwe. Later, Mohammad Nabi achieved as the player of the match.

For Afghan team, they failed to make a good start but opener Shahzad scored 20 runs and Sadiq scored 5 runs so far. Later captain Asghar scored 11 runs and Ashraf scored 18 runs for the team. To win the series, they just managed another victory.
