9th match of PSL 2 was abandoned due to rain

Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi were scheduled to play against each other in last 17th February, 2017 and Peshawar Zalmi started to bat by losing the toss. They almost played 16 overs out of 20 but later the match was abandoned due to rain. Firstly, the match duration was reduced to 16 overs but later non stop rain affected the ground and umpires took the certain decision to cancel the match. So, the match remained unfinished at the end. That was the ninth match of the tournament and including this, the both teams have played total four matches in this tournament. They both won twice times out of three and last match was finished with no result.

At the beginning of the match, the sky was almost cloudy but however, the match was staged. But later, the rain started and the match was reduced to the 16 overs. In the meantime, Zalmi scored 117 runs by losing three wickets where Tamim Iqbal scored unbeaten 62 runs so far.

But, since then rain started heavily and the umpires were forced to abandon the match.

Earlier of the match, Zalmi lost the toss and came to bat. They opened their innings with Tamim and Hafeez and started good. Their opening partnership added almost 41 runs to the scoreboard when Hafeez was gone by Mahmudullah with his individual 16 runs so far. Kamran Akmal was gone as well with 0 runs next. English skipper Morgan could not justify his name in that match also and finished his innings with just 1 run. These were the total three wickets of Peshawar Zalmi wose were taken. Later, Tamim made another unbeaten partnership with Sohaib Maqsood where Maqsood scored unbeaten 30 runs. At the end of the 16 overs, Peshawar Zalmi end up their innings with 117 runs. The score was not so high for Quetta and they could easily chase the runs but unfortunately the rain did not let that happen. Quetta bowled so well in that day and successfully tied them within short runs. Mahmudullah, Hasan and Rossouw took one wicket each.

However, Quetta Gladiators was scheduled to play their next match against Lahore and Peshawar Zalmi was about to play their upcoming match against Islamabad United.
