Ireland won by 46 runs at Deventer

A Tri nation series have just finished which was executed in Netherlands. There were three newborn teams which took part in the competition along with the host nation Netherlands. It was an international cricket competition where the tournament format was T20I. Host nation Netherlands  arranged it for the first time and they want to make it an annual competition. The tournament started with the match between Ireland and Netherlands and in first two matches, Dutch team won. Scotland was the 3rd participant in the tournament and due to their another schedule, they started to play in the tournament later. Earlier, they played two T20I matches against Pakistan at their home ground. They started the competition by playing against Ireland and in the inaugural match of the Scottish team, Ireland won by 46 runs at Deventer.

The match between Ireland and Scotland was the 3rd match of the tournament and also it was the 3rd match of Irish team. Prior to the match against Scotland, Ireland faced defeat in the first two matches against Netherlands and so, they were desperate to win the match.

They have now one match left which will be against same Scotland and to ensure the tri nation trophy, they have to win the match.

The match between Scotland and Ireland took place in 16th June, 2018 at Sportpark Het Schootsveld, Deventer. In the match, for Ireland Peter Chase and for Scotland Stuart Whittingham made their T20I debut.

The toss winning team was Ireland and they decided to bat first. Stirling and Shannon started the innings for Ireland. In 25 runs opener Shannon was gone with 5 runs only. Later, Stirling and Balbirnie made a partnership where opener Stirling made a half century and at the end of the crease Balbirnie scored highest 74 runs. Later, Simi Singh scored 0 runs but captain Wilson scored 58 runs so far. Based on their three players score, team Ireland did present 205 runs milestone in front of Scotland in selected 20 overs. They total lost five wickets in the match where Scottish bowler Evans took highest two wickets so far.

In 20 overs, to chase 205 runs was almost impossible for the team like Scotland. But they started well. Openers added 65 runs where captain Coetzer scored 33 runs and Munsey scored 41 runs so far. But rest players did not do their job well. Berrington scored 29 runs, MacLeod scored 12 runs and Budge scored 23 runs so far. In exchange for 5 wickets team Scotland finished their journey scoring 159 runs so far in 20 overs.
