Sri Lanka batsman Kusal Perera was rushed to the hospital after he crashed on to the advertising boards during Day 3 of the third West Indies Test on Monday.

It happened during second session when West Indies were struggling at 82-9. In an attempt to add some quick runs, Shannon Gabriel went for a slog off off-spinner Dilruwan Perera.

Kusal, stationed at long on, made a sensational attempt to complete the catch but landed right on the hoardings. He lay there motionless for a bit, prompting his teammates and staff to rush and check him out.

Subsequently, the 26-year-old was stretchered off in an ambulance and taken to Bridgetown Hospital.

Kusal was cleared of any major injury and was discharged after clearing scans. He will bat only if required, reports CricBuzz.

“KJP was discharged from the hospital after scans cleared him. He went back to the ground. He has been cleared, but has been advised to rest. He will bat if required tomorrow (Tuesday),” an official was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are struggling at 81-5 after bundling out West Indies for just 93 runs. The hosts are leading the three-match series 1-0.
