After 2008, Sri Lanka cricket team has returned to the West Indies one more time this year. The purpose is to play a Test series against the local team West Indies. The series consists of three matches where among them one will be a day/ night Test series. Before playing the official Test, team Sri Lanka has also played a three days tour match against West Indies President’s XI at Brian Lara Cricket Ground. The match ended with draw. Later in 6th June, 2018 the first official Test has started between Sri Lanka and West Indies. In the match, Sri Lanka faced batting collapsed in 1st innings.

The match between them took place at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain where team West Indies won the toss and as the local team they decided to bat first. Though, at the beginning West Indies failed to make charming head start but finally in the first innings they scored 414 runs which was comparatively handsome. One of their player Shane Dowrich made an unbeaten century. After losing eight wickets in 154 overs West Indies declared the innings. The Lions bowler Lahiru Kumara took four wickets highest for the team.

Later, Sri Lanka teams came to bat for the 1st innings. In the meantime while playing the first innings of team Windies in the 2nd day, rain affected the match and only 9.3 overs were played in that day. So, in the 3rd day, the Lions came to bat for the first innings.

Mendis and Perera started the innings for Sri Lanka. In 2 runs opener Perera was gone. He was being catch out. Later, in 16 runs Mendis was gone as well. He scored 4 runs only. JUst 14 runs later, 3rd wicket of the team was gone. This time Mathews got out scoring 11 runs so far. Captain Chandimal tried to stand strong and made a stand for a while. But Sri Lankan players started to return to the dressing room within a regular gap. In 43 runs top four wickets of the team was gone. In the 5th wicket partnership between Dickwella and Chandimal, they added almost 60 runs where Chandimal scored 44 runs highest and Dickwella scored 31 runs so far. Perera scored another 20 runs for the team. Just five players of the Lions touch two figure runs in the match. By playing 55.4 overs team Sri Lanka lost all wickets by scoring 185 runs only.
