As much as he’s known for controlling his emotions, there are times when MS Dhoni doesn’t shy away from showing off his sense of humour.

It was more of the latter on display as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their third Indian Premier League title after defeating SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Mumbai on Sunday night.

During the toss, commentator Sanjay Manjrekar wasn’t sure as to who had won the flip of the coin as he kept asking Dhoni, “You called heads?”

The CSK captain showed off his lighter side, saying, “No, he [Williamson] called tails.” Manjrekar sensed what was going on as he asked Dhoni to “stop fooling around.”

That was not it.

During CSK’s chase, opening batsman Shane Watson appeared to be struggling initially as he failed open his account in the first 11 deliveries.

The camera then shifted to the dressing room, where Dwayne Bravo, who is known for his big hitting and usually comes in late, was seen padding up ahead of even Dhoni.

When Manjrekar asked if CSK were planning to send Bravo up the order as a pinch-hitter, Dhoni said: “He keeps doing it on his own. There was no plan as such.

“With Faf [du Plessis] playing [Ambati] Rayudu had to come down at four. But Bravo is someone who pads quite easily and stays ready.”

Funny fella!
