Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), posted an emotional message on Twitter after his team’s campaign at the Indian Premier League (IPL) came to an end.

“Well was not to be. Will have to cancel my flight but KKR well done. U did yourself proud. All of u so so well done. Love you & yes I am smiling. Thks for the entertainment & so many moments of glory. V r an awesome team!” SRK wrote to his 35.5 million followers.

KKR opening batsman Chris Lynn was quick to turn up with an equally emotional reply.

“Thank you for the last 2 months mate. Couldn’t ask for better owners in yourself and Jay [Mehta] and also the quality coaching and support staff we have onboard the KKR family. Will be back bigger and stronger,” Lynn wrote.

KKR, who had beaten Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator, were handed a 14-run defeat by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Qualifier 2 on Friday night.

Opting to bowl first, KKR looked set to restrict SRH to a low total before Rashid Khan’s 10-ball 30 took them to 174-7 in 20 overs.

KKR, again, looked on course to chase down the total at 87-1 in 8.2 overs before they suffered a batting collapse and eventually could only manage 160-9.

SRH, meanwhile, will not take on Chennai Super Kings in the final on Sunday.
