New Zealand won 1st Test against England

New Zealand is currently hosting a home series against England where England cricket team is travelling the Black Caps now. So, their purpose is to play a ODI series against the local team along with a Test series. ODI series consisted of five matches where team England won the series earlier. They beat the local team New Zealand by 3 – 2 games so far. Now, they are playing the long format matches against Black Caps and in the inaugural match, New Zealand won 1st Test against England.

New Zealand won 1st Test against England

However, earlier the inaugural Test match, team England played two two days match against New Zealand XI and both case match ended with draw. Besides, England is much more balanced team now in all three formats but as a local team, Black Caps got the advantage. The inaugural test between them was started in 22nd March, 2018 and the host venue was Eden Park, Auckland. Through the match, some milestone were achieved. English player Moeen Ali played his 50th Test through the match. Besides, in the match, rain attacked and so, in 2nd and 3rd day only 23.1 and 2.5 overs were bowled respectively.

In the match, England was lost the toss and came to bat first. Most interestingly the match was a day/ night competition where England came to bat first. It was the 1st day/ night test in New Zealand. England faced batting disaster in their 1st innings. They got packet by scoring 58 runs just. It was the 6th lowest total in the cricket history in Test and the lowest total against New Zealand in the 1st innings. Only Craig Overton remained not out with 33 runs for England. Trent Boult took six wickets and destroyed the English batting line up completely.

Later, Black Caps came to bat for the first innings where they were just 58 runs behind in the first innings. New Zealand played strongly and scored 427 runs by losing eight wickets. They declared their innings where Henry Nicholls scored unbeaten 145 runs so far. Stuart Broad took three wickets for England. But England failed to chase the huge score in the second innings and also failed to lead the innings. They finished their innings by playing 126.1 overs where they scored 320 runs in the meantime. Ben Stokes scored highest 66 runs for the team. Todd Astle took three wickets for Black Caps. So, New Zealand got a big victory over a major Test playing team by an innings and 49 runs so far.
