Former heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko and his family survived a scare after their chartered yacht caught fire off coast in Mallorca on Sunday night.

According to The Sun, Klitschko and nine of his family members were on their way from Ibiza to Mallorca, when fire was reported in the engine room.

Further reports stated at around 1:30 am, Spain’s Maritime Rescue Service got an emergency rescue call as they rushed to the spot. No injuries were reported.

Klitschko later took to his official Twitter handle to play down the incident.

He wrote: “Be careful what you wish for: fate took my wish for “some #adrenalin” a bit too literally and our boat-trip Sunday night ended up in our boat #igniting and family & friends being evacuated by coast guard and fire rescue-team. No worries: we are all fine! #theroofisonfire #song.”

Klitschko (64-5), a former lineal champion, hasn’t fought since losing to Anthony Joshua in the 11th round of their thriller back in April 2017. He hasn’t ruled out making another comeback though.
