Daniel Dubois was rocked perhaps for the first time in his nascent career during his scheduled 10-round fight against Richard Lartey of Ghana at Wembley Arena over the weekend.

Dubois appeared to be the more dominating boxer in the first couple of rounds. Riding high on confidence, he unleashed a flurry of punches in the third round. Lartey, instead of being taken aback, surprisingly reciprocated with big combinations of his own as the duo was involved in a wild rally that lasted about ten seconds.

And guess what? Dubois appeared to have been rocked and was the first one to retreat.

The Brit, however, regained his composure before going on to knock Lartey down in the fourth round. No wonder, he couldn’t beat the referee’s count.

Dubois, who has now won 10 off his 11 fights inside the distance, is expected to take a major step-up and fight countryman and former Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce (8-0, 8KOs).

An official announcement impending, the fight is expected to be held on July 13 at O2 Arena.
