I wont even smile once: Tyson Fury vows to get serious against Francesco Pianeta

Tyson Fury showed off his best version of showmanship in his comeback fight against Sefer Seferi last month. There, however, will be nothing of that sort on display, the ‘Gypsy King’ has said, when he takes on Germany’s Francesco Pianeta.

Fury joked around the ring with Seferi, sticking his tongue out, opening his arms wide as if he was offering a hug, and exchanged words with his opponent while the fight was on. Prior to their fight, the players lifted each other in air and kissed each other on the lips (see video below).

But, Fury’s trainer Ben Davison has cautioned the Brit to be at his best when he faces Pianeta in Belfast come August 18.

“We saw the joker in the last camp, we saw the showman, the entertainer,” Fury was quoted as saying by BoxingScene.

“Ben wants a serious approach this time and that is what he’ll get. All business in Belfast!

“Everything is great, but if he wants me to be serious about this fight then I will be serious.

“I’m not serious about anything in my whole life, everything is like fun and games – even Klitschko. I wasn’t serious – I was doing all dance moves, everything.

“But listen, if Ben wants serious, Ben will get serious. I’ll go in there and do my job and that’s it. I won’t even smile once!”

Davison is hardly wrong. Pianeta has proven his mettle in the ring, having squared off against the likes of Wladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev – challenging for world titles on both occasion. His impressive 35-4-1 record speaks for itself.

So, do you guys see Pianeta scoring an upset win?
