IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO champion Anthony Joshua may be the slight favourite against WBC holder Deontay Wilder, but rising star Daniel Dubois thinks the vice versa.

Dubois, who has won all of his seven bouts well inside the distance, has sparred Joshua in the past, but believes his fellow Brit is dodging his American rival for the sake of money.

“I would favour Wilder. It’s equally risky for both of them but I favour Wilder,” the 20-year-old was quoted as saying by boxingnewsonline.

“Personally I don’t blame him [Joshua] for going for an easy option. Take on someone else, someone that’s less of a threat. Wilder is a very dangerous fighter.

“He [Wilder] is a big, serious threat for AJ losing the titles. That’s money. Money gone. Money he could earn otherwise, fighting different opposition.”

Negotiations have been under way since long for a unification fight. According to reports, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn sent across a contract to Wilder’s team last week. They, however, are said to be awaiting clarification on two details before approving it.

Meanwhile, Dubois is scheduled to trade punches with Tom Little for the vacant British belt on Saturday.
