Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) and Tyson Fury (26-0, 19 KOs) could trade punches in a blockbuster heavyweight clash before the end of this year, the latter’s promoter Frank Warren has revealed.

This is pretty surprising, given the fact that Wilder, the WBC champion, has long been in talks for a unification fight with Anthony Joshua. Moreover, Fury recently returned to the ring after a two-year layoff with an easy win over cruiserweight Sefer Seferi.

But, Warren insists whether or not Fury will face American Wilder will only be made after the Brit’s next fight, against Italian Francesco Pianeta come August 18.

“We’re actually trying to make the fight with Deontay Wilder,” Warren told TalkSport.

“First of all we want to see what he looks like on the August 18. Hopefully he will come through it well, but reports from the gym are that he’s looking well.

“Tyson, as he’s said himself, has been talking about Wilder in the last few weeks and it’s a fight I think the British fans would like to see.

“It wouldn’t happen in the autumn, if it happens it will be sometime in November or December.”

It would be interesting to see if the fight materializes as Wilder is expected to fight Joshua in March next year.
