Tyson Fury (26-0-0, 19 KOs) has stepped up in class as he will face Germany’s Francesco Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 KOs) at Windsor Park, Belfast, on August 18.

Fury, a former lineal heavyweight champion, was out of the ring for over two years due to personal issues but made his return last month with a fourth-round stoppage of Sefer Seferi.

This promises to be a better match-up for Fury, given the fact that Pianeta has challenged for the world title twice (he lost both times).

The biggest name in Pianeta’s résumé is Wladimir Klitschko, a former unified champion, whom Fury had beaten in what was his last fight before the long layoff.

Klitschko had gone on to knock Pianeta out in the sixth round back in May 2013.

Therefore, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren is certain it won’t be a walk in the park for the 6’9” Brit.

“The Seferi fight is history and Pianeta is a far better operator than him. His level of opposition tells you that,” Warren said

“Tyson had a short rest after Seferi, but is back in full time camp ready for this challenge in Belfast.

“He needs rounds under his belt before moving on to the next level and this fight will do that and make him work for his win.”

“I am sure Pianeta will get into the Belfast ring desperate to upset Tyson.”

Pianeta, a 6’5” German, is a former IBO International and WBO European champion.
